Teach Foreign Languages

What are reasons that schools should teach foreign languages?

This is for my opinion essay. What are reasons that schools should teach foreign languages to students, besides being globally conscious. Please give at least two reasons, be thorough and descriptive. Thanks!

to understand another culture’s language (a key asset to getting ahead in the business and political world), and to have more of an appreciation for other cultures (for instance, those that learn the Spanish language and of its culture are much less likely to be discriminative towards Hispanics).
