Language Acquisition In Children

Do parents worry about their child developing language?

Hi
I’m doing an expose for my practice coursework in english, and i was just wondering, do new mums/dads worry that their child might not learn language properly or that they might have a problem with acquisition? is it a common thing?
thanks.

My 12 month old is slightly behind in his speech development. He jabbers a lot, but he doesn’t say any meaningful words, not even mama or dada. I’ve been working with him on some signs for months now, but he just doesn’t get the concept. But every child develops at a different rate, so it’s not really a big deal yet. If he still doesn’t have any words by 18 months, then I might start to worry. My husband does seem to over worry about things like that. He worries about autism or speech impediments, and other things like that. I think it’s natural to worry about your child developing perfectly. Every parent wants their child to be perfect.
