Foreign Language Kids
Anyone have kids that spoke a foreign language (that no one taught them!) when learning to speak?
My son’s first words were in Spanish! I kid you not. We don’t live in an hispanic area, nor do we have spanish toys, tv shows, friends, etc. We didn’t even watch Sesame Street at the time and he would say all these Spanish words but not English. My husband and I didn’t know much spanish (just from high school classes) and had to look the words up! Very strange. He stopped doing that and speaks English now but that was definitely eerie for a while. He still says “agua” for water on occasion. I do believe in reincarnation think he must have been Latin or something in his last life.
Anyone have similar stories?!
No I don’t have any Spanish-speaking people/help. Nothing!! We didn’t watch Sesame street at the time and did not have any baby sitters other than my parents (who did not watch TV with him or have any Spanish toys either!!!)
Amazing though this is, children spontaneously speaking in foreign languages is not that uncommon. If you haven’t checked out this website, you should:

You might want to educate yourself on how to gently persuade your son to recall details from his prior incarnation. When he’s older, this is information he may want to know.
